Film Classification Query Engine
The FPB is a statutory body established by the Films and
Publications Act of 1996. It replaces the Directorate of Publications. The
FPB’s task is mainly to classify films, videos, DVDs, computer games and
certain publications for their suitable age viewership, and to provide you with
enough information to make informed choices about what you and your children
should or should not see. The FPB classifies all film material distributed in
South Africa, except that shown on TV. Broadcasters have their own regulatory
body. "Please note that limited information on the details of classifiable
elements is available for films classified by the FPB prior to 2000. The
entries under all classifiable elements for these films - language, violence
etc,- will be designated as "none"." Enter full or partial film title and click
on the Submit button to start query.
